9 asian airports appear in the 20 airports list with at least 60 million passengers in 2017.
In the previous year only 4 asian airports reached the 60 million passenger milestone, all from North Asia: Bejing Capital, Tokyo Haneda, Hong Kong International and Shangai Pudong.
In 2017 to these airports were added other 2 from North Asia: Guangzhou Baiyun and Seoul Incheon; 2 from Southeast Asia: Singapore Changi and Bangkok Suvarnabhumi; and 1 from South Asia: Delhi Indira Ghandi.
It is a safe bet that Asian Continent account for 50% of the world’s airports handling 60 million-plus passenger airports in 2018, and more than 60% in 2020.
